From Idea to Production
The Concept
Most developers can write code - but very few have ever taken an idea all the way to a running, public production system. This course closes that gap.
Bring your own app idea - or don't. If you don't have one, you can build a practice project instead (a time tracker, a todo app, or something with a third-party integration). What we build is not the important part - how we build it and the end-to-end flow are. Over 16 weeks we build everything around it and under it: the cloud infrastructure, the backend, the frontend, the pipelines, the monitoring, and even the legal and marketing basics you need to actually launch. You do the work on your own project - we provide the architecture, the methods, the reviews, and the AI-assisted workflow that makes it fast.
By the end, you won't just know how production systems work. You will have one running, on your own domain, built by you.
Who is this for?
- Developers who can already code in Java + Spring Boot
- Anyone who wants to build their own app or SaaS with AI assistance
- Backend devs who never touched infrastructure, DNS, or deployment
- People who learn by building, not by watching slides
Prerequisites
- Solid Java + Spring Boot knowledge
- Git basics: clone, branch, commit, push, pull/fetch, merge
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript basics - the supported frontend path is Angular (React is allowed, but it is your own responsibility)
- Understanding of SOLID principles
- An app idea is welcome but optional - practice projects are provided
How We Work
The course is fully guided - every session is live and online on Google Meet, with all materials and recordings shared afterwards. Mondays are for theory and live demos on a real reference system. Saturday mornings are guided build-alongs; Saturday afternoons are open sessions where you work on your own project while the instructor stays in the call for questions, reviews, and mentoring.
Weekly rhythm
- Monday 18:00-19:30 - theory, architecture, live demo, Q&A
- Saturday 9:00-12:00 - guided build-along on a reference feature
- Saturday 13:00-16:00 - open session: your own project, instructor in the call
- All sessions live online (Google Meet), recorded, materials shared
AI-assisted development
- Working effectively with AI coding assistants from day one
- Rules files, agent instructions, and project context that keep AI output usable
- Task decomposition: what to delegate to AI and what to think through yourself
- Reviewing AI-generated code critically - the skill that actually matters
Curriculum
Four months, four phases - each one ending with something concrete running in your own environment.
Infrastructure & Foundations
- System design fundamentals - thinking before building
- Cloud concepts in general and Oracle Cloud (OCI) in practice
- VM setup and server provisioning with Ansible
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Terraform state in Azure: service principal + blob storage
- Buying a domain, DNS configuration, HTTPS/TLS setup
- CI/CD pipelines from the very beginning
- AI best practices and AI-related project files
Platform & First Feature
- Microservice platform: Eureka service discovery, API gateway
- Centralized mailing / notification service
- Deploying applications to your VMs
- Testing strategies: unit, integration, contract testing
- Angular frontend (React possible at your own responsibility)
- First end-to-end features: user login, password reset, and one feature from your own app
Data & Quality
- Databases in production: MongoDB, and self-hosting databases on your own servers
- Choosing the right database for your use case
- Playwright end-to-end testing with BDD
- Production testing strategies - verifying what you ship
- Hardening your app: edge cases, error handling, data safety
- Security, backups, and daily automated health-check pipelines
Operate & Launch
- Monitoring: Grafana, Loki, alerting, support tooling
- Legal basics for launching: terms & conditions (ÁSZF), data privacy / GDPR
- Forms of organization and taxation - tips on how to start a company in Hungary and the pros and cons of each
- Online presence: Facebook page, LinkedIn page, Google Business Profile
- Measurement: Meta Pixel, Google Analytics / GA tags
- Launch checklist, go-live, and demo day
Your Idea Stays Yours
Your project is your business - literally. What you build during the course belongs entirely to you. We don't take ownership, equity, or copies of your idea, and we expect the same respect in return: the reference systems and course materials are ours to teach with, not to reuse commercially.
You only need to share as much about your idea as helps you build it.
Good to Know
Additional costs
- Cloud costs - we build on OCI and try to keep everything on the always-free tier, so expect little to no monthly cost
- Domain - a domain name for your app, paid yearly (a few EUR/year, you choose it)
- AI assistant - a monthly subscription for an AI coding assistant of your choice
What you leave with
- Your own app, running in production, on your own domain
- Infrastructure you understand and can reproduce with Terraform + Ansible
- A working AI-assisted development workflow
- CI/CD, tests, monitoring - the whole lifecycle, done once by your own hands
